Croton Creek Steakhouse and Wine Bar (Steakhouse) - Croton Falls NY - 1/31/08

We celebrated my mother’s birthday at a new restaurant right in the town of Croton Falls. Growing up in this area I was always surprised that there
was not a decent place to eat near the train station in Croton Falls. Other then a sandwich from the deli there was nothing for at least 20 years that I
can remember. Finally that has changed with the opening of Croton Creek Steakhouse and Wine Bar.

The dinning room was nicely decorated taking advantage of the exposed brick and hardwood floors. Although the room is narrow it didn’t feel
cramped at all. They did a good job creating a sophisticated room without being stuffy.

We went on a Wednesday night at they were offering a very reasonable three course prefix. Our party tried the crab cakes, lobster chowder and the
mixed baby greens salad. Everything was well prepared. I particularly enjoyed the chowder. It had a solid lobster flavor that can be missing if the
stock isn’t made with actual lobster shells. Just the right mixture of cream and broth gave it a prefect texture.

For our main courses we had the 10 oz filet which was tender and properly cooked to our order. I tried the 14 oz Rib-eye which again was cooked
properly. You have a choice of sauces with the steaks and I selected a green peppercorn brandy sauce which complimented the steak well. On the side
we ordered macaroni and cheese which lived up to my high expectations but did not surpass my mother’s mac and cheese. Something about mac and
cheese, it’s just always best when made by mom. To round out the table we had one of the specials, a pan-seared scallop dish.

For desert she shared a bread pudding which everyone enjoyed. The wine list offered several nice choices by the glass. I felt the Rioja went very well
with my rib-eye.

I’m happy to see a place like this in Croton Falls.
